Beth Blum

Beth Blum is a Professor of English at Harvard University. She is a scholar of literature and of therapeutic culture whose first book, The Self-Help Compulsion: Searching for Advice in Modern Literature, was published in 2020 by Columbia University Press. Her writing has appeared in forums such as The Chronicle of Higher Education, The New Yorker (online), Aeon, and Public Books, and she has been interviewed by venues including NPR, The Guardian, Vox Magazine, and CBC. She has been awarded grants from the American Council of Learned Societies and the Social Sciences and Humanities Research Council of Canada.
