Duncan Simpson

Duncan Simpson, PhD, CMPC, is a mental performance consultant and the inaugural Director of the Teevens Center for Peak Performance at Dartmouth College. He holds a PhD in sport psychology, and for more than twenty years he has worked with athletes and coaches at every level, from first-time competitors to NCAA, professional, and Olympic athletes.

Before Dartmouth, he led the mental performance and personal development programs at IMG Academy, one of the world’s leading youth sport environments. There he oversaw a team of mental performance and leadership coaches serving 1,600 student-athletes across ten sports, and worked every day with young athletes and the families supporting them. He has served on the Executive Board of the Association for Applied Sport Psychology and is a Fellow of the association. He has published his research widely and written multiple book chapters on sport and performance psychology.

He is currently working on his forthcoming book. He is also a sports parent himself, to a young son and daughter, and has learned firsthand that knowing the research doesn’t make it any easier to stay calm in the stands.
