Steve Hirsch
Steve Hirsch is a longtime Washington-based journalist whose work has taken him into the halls of power in the nation’s capital, from Congress to Cabinet departments to the CIA, and to such far-flung locations as Paris, the China-Lao border and the (then) Soviet Far East. He was banned from Myanmar for his reporting from that country and the Thai border region. He has worked as a reporter and editor covering Washington and international news and has worked for numerous news organizations as a staff reporter or editor, or as a freelancer, including the National Journal Group, Washington Times, International Herald Tribune and Voice of America, where he was an editor until 2025. Between journalism stints he has worked as an NGO and political risk firm contractor for the UN, World Bank and other multilateral development banks – work that has taken him to Singapore, Cambodia and Thailand. He is working on his first book.
